One of the many delights of London are it’s museums. There are so many to choose from with artifacts, paintings, sculpture from all over the world and the UK. Most of them are free to enter and the only real cost is if you were to see a special exhibition. I always plan on visiting multiple museums while here and since it rains a lot and sporadically in England, it’s a great way to spend a few hours indoors while on holiday.

On this visit I had planned on going to the Tate Gallery to see if my favorite painting “The Lady of Shallot” was in house, and as you can see from a previous post I was very excited to see that it was. And as often happens when traveling, it may be in your plan and your intent to see one thing, and then something totally unexpected presents itself. As I entered the Tate I saw the wall to my left that said “The Rosetti’s.” I can’t tell you how excited I was, like giddy. I’ve always loved this Pre Raphaelite period in art with it’s mystical, sensual and magical appeal.  I paid the exhibition fee and also paid a little extra for the headset that gave me an audio tour of the whole presentation.  It’s a journey into beautiful art and the secret society of artists that helped revolutionize 19th Century perceptions of realism and symbolism in painting and writing. Well worth an hour or less of your time if you’re in London this spring and while there and check out the many additional exhibits on display to enrich your mind and soul.
